    3. A scalper bought a huge portion of the tickets to resell. Apple does not let you transfer tickets. You must check-in at the registration desk with government issued ID (4th year attending).

To be fair, you can transfer WWDC tickets before they're activated. There are some on eBay right now. Otherwise, a company couldn't buy them for more than one employee.

More importantly... $1000 for a BAR exam prep app? BAR prep books are significantly less.

Well, I guess the app contain an official exam and your results get posted directly... Obviously, it's not only a "text book" kind of app...

the new consumer MacPro tablet... 1" thick, 15" widescreen, touch or non-touch inputs (u choose) bluetooth keyboard included (virtual keyboards suck). Built in stand. Face of device is ALL SCREEN with very narrow margins. Face is ballistic glass, tough and virtually scratchproof. Trackpad like the current notebooks, but virtual.

$1500. 2.0 core duo. ($500 more for dual core duo.) 2 gig ram standard.

Steve also announces CS available NOW.

Edit: Frosted ballistic glass. And the entire front is imbedded with some sort of 'invisible' solar panel array so that the device self charges when off (or maybe even when it is on?)

Also, the sidebar is a retrograde step too. The drawer in Preview can be resized without changing the size of the content in the main window. You can't do that with a sidebar. It's also white, unlike Mail's light blue. Wrong, wrong, bad, ugly, inconsistent and stupid.

Has it occurred to you that the white background was intentional because the sidebar is being used to display images and thumbnails of text? A coloured background wouldn't really suit that use (IMHO).

I never liked drawers so I'm glad to see the back of them. :D

It's too late for Microsoft - they are just riding Apple's coattails now, in a desperate attempt to create something that can compete with iTunes+iPod...but thats all it is, a desperate attempt

Remember MS has a big pile of cash for marketing and windows install base is also huge. So this product will probably succeed in a way or another.

Is it gonna beat iPod? Who knows, but it will be hard.

Anyone actually planning on buying this? Especially with a refresh right around the corner?

There is no refresh anywhere on the horizon. In fact, the refresh is not coming for sure before September, and there is currently no indication at all at what point after September would it come.

If this state of affairs remains when the white is available for purchase, I am buying it. I just couldn't bring myself to buy the black 4 as I never thought that the design measures up to that "Apple pop" the way the white one does. So, my 3G is pretty beat up by now, and I never dared to upgrade to iOS 4 for fear it will slow it to a crawl, so I am well behind in apps too.

Plus, it looks like we are having trouble thinking up even a wish list for iPhone 5, which I suspect is the main reason why it's not coming soon: there is not much to add to iPhone 4 (except as I said before in design, which for my taste white fixes at least in the visual appeal).

There are people who think ignorance is acceptable.

Now, all they need is to unlock the phone and we'll know the exclusivity contract is broken.
    I think "cali" is acceptable.

Due to late intro of the mac Pro. I would bet that desktops will increase in sales for Q1

I would agree with you. One issue is that the older G5 are still very good machines. There is little incentive to upgrage given that there are still a number of applications that are not Intel native yet. The Mac Pro should see a bigger jump when Photoshop and Leopard are out in Spring.

I think Leopard alone will blow everyone away given the powerfull 64 bit processing. We will continue to see strong demand for Mac desktops at that point.

Some people are lying themselves. Of course every high-end laptop will be like the MBA in few-several years. That is the point, getting slimmer, portable and more and more powerful. That's the ideal laptop.

So a MBA with better GPU/CPU is always welcomed.

The point, though, is that the Sandy Bridge MacBook Air will have a much better CPU, but a worse GPU unless Apple does something surprising.

AT&T's HSPA+ can pull down 21 MB theoretically. 4x faster than HSPA 7.2.

The theoretical never actually happen though. That's why I'd take a superior network standard with a lower frequency, and thus better building penetration, any day.

Just placed my order. Saved $8 with education discount but shipping cost 6 cause it took the price below the free shipping limit. What to do with the 2 bucks I saved by being thrifty!
Now I will have 2 computers and 4 mouse's (1BT, 2 wired MT's and 1 BT MT). Lucky I have friends that will take my hand me downs. :)
Shipping in 6-8 weeks in Canada, I will have forgot I ordered it by the time it arrives.

The audience here are the most toughest critics, but general public will appreciate the changes.
I personally see nothing wrong with making software look like a real thing. It's one of the most natural user interfaces because people know how to use books, paper, and folder tabs.

The problem with making iCal look like the real thing (in this case a leather bound calendar) is that brown leather bound calendars are hideous!

I can't believe that the same company that hires Jonathan Ives to design such sleek, 60s modern hardware, can show such incredibly "bling" taste on the GUI design front.

    No offense though, please. YMMV.

Would it be out of line for me to suggest that AT&T should hire an outside agency to determine what the normal dropped call percentage is in each market, and then offer those markets a monthly discount on their rate equal to that percentage?

I am in Southern California, Orange County area and would say my dropped call rate is around 20%. I spent some time in San Francisco in July and the service was horrible, my biggest problem was with data and the accuracy of maps ... which can be an issue when you're walking around a town like that and you've never been there.
